Guo Run-Lin born 1940 in Shanghai of China. In 1953, he started studying watercolor under the influence of Ran Xi, a master in watercolor. In 1977, he and his colleagues conducted a watercolor show in Shanghai, this was the first art show helod without Chinese government's intervention. In 1978, he held his first gouache painting and his second watercolor show. In 1979, He held an art show drew mass media attention, especially in Taiwan and Hong Kong. In 1982, he held his first individual art show in Shanghai. In 1987, he came to the United States and started his new art career. |

Guo Run Lin devotes himself to the fusion of Eastern and Western techiques and concepts. In depicting Western subject matter, he uses classical Chinese concepts and watercolor techniques while in depicting Eastern subject matter, he uses Western concepts and technquies. By doing so, Guo is hoping to create a breakthrough in his art career which he could never have when he was in China. |
