Artist Bio
Artist:  Qian XingJian
Biography:  Born in 1935, Qian Xing Jian is from Wuxi of Jiangsu Province, China. He had loved painting since childhood. He learned how to paint landscapes, appreciate literature, write poetry and calligraphy. In 1954, he learned from Mr. Jiang Hanting, a painter specializing in birds. In 1963, he later dedicated himself to the theoretical study of Chinese painting. Decades of painstaking research into ancient and modern painting, he created a unique physical style of elegance. In 1956, he was ranked in the Shanghai Youth Art Exhibition. After moving to Shanghai, various important works were exhibited in the National Exhibition. In 1984, he had his first solo exhibition in Shanghai. In 1985, he had three more. In 1990, he held a Hong Kong solo exhibition. In 1988, he had another solo exhibition in Singapore. In 1991 and 1992, he had exhibitions in Osaka and Japan. In 1980, he had an exhibition in Sapporo. His works have since been selected to be shown in the United States, France, Italy, India, Germany, Singapore and Hong Kong. His works were also on display on behalf of Shanghai to Japan in 1986, and he was invited to Japan to give lectures and demonstrations in an exchange. In the same year appeared, his work appeared in the "Six-nation International Art Exhibition" and "Showa Exhibition." In 1996, he had a colo exhibition in the Shanghai Art Museum. He is the author of A Hundred Birds, Money Revolves around Paintings, and the Techniques of Chinese Painting series. Now he is a member of the Chinese Artists Association and Shanghai Artists Association, an associate art professor at the Shanghai International Studies, a distinguished artist at the Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Institute, the vice president of Shanghai Huangpu Painting, and an artistic advisor for Xiangshan Painting.
