Statement:  My favorite subjects are the clay figures of warriors and horses. They display power and dash. During the Qin Dynasty, the early period of the feudal society, although it was a backward time, pioneering spirit and great vitality could be felt everywhere. Without employing artistic exaggeration, ancient people produced marvelous art works, which are full of vigor and vitality. At present, the cultural atmosphere of the end of this century is dull and dispirited. So I chose these subjects. What I strive for is vigorous and enterprising atmosphere. With the help of coarse surface and strong color, I combine the profound meaning of the theme with vigor to produce excellent works.
