Born in Zhengzhou, Mr. Xu Li attended the Music High Scholl of Shanghai Conservatory of Music studying with Professor Cao Jian. Encouraged by Professor Stuart Sankey, the legendary double bass pedegog, Xu Li pressured his further study in North American, where he studied with Joel Quarrington, Stuart Sankey and James Van Demark.

Xu Li has performed recitals and concerti in Shanghai, Beijing, Ann Arbor, Rochester, Toronto, Singapore, Bangkok, Hongkong and Chengdu... He has worked with Rochester Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, and Macau Orchestra, and some festival orchestras, including Worldwide Chinese Musicians Orchestra.

Currently, Xu Li is working with Macau Orchestra and a visiting Professor of The China Conservatory of Music, Beijing.

In 2006 and 2008, Xu Li was invited twice to the International Beijing Double Bass Festival as a featured soloist, and his performance and interview were broadcasted national wise on China Central TV and Beijing Satellite TV.

In 2011, Mr. Xu Li was the featured guest on the TV talk show, "Culture Clecture Room" series on Zhuhai TV Channel.
