Professor Yang Yihui is an eminent Chinese watercolorist.  Keen on calligraphy, he writes a beautiful and graceful handwriting with his unique style.  He is a scholar with lofty ideals and pursuits.  His interest in Chinese Classical poetry, his accomplishment in art and especially his devotion to watercolor have gradually fused together over the decades and permeated into his works, which have fully displayed the fruitful nourishment and his talent.

His watercolors show his originality in controlling the moistening of the paper.  He pays great attention to the efforts of the strong contrast of colors, some very light yet not weak while others very dark yet not stifling.  There leaves on the paper a feeling of moisture in the air, a sort of transparency.  He has created a special style, refreshing and enchanting, featured by strong emotional appeal, magnificent artistic conception, splendid flavor, lasting charm and exquisite taste.
